Electric Massage Table

I worked with portable tables for ten years before purchasing a powerlift table four years ago.  As with most therapists I found it difficult to substantiate the expense, especially when my portable was adjustable.  I now know that as soon as I knew I could make a living from massage I should have purchased one.

Electric massage tables make a huge difference to your therapy and practice.  To start with they look more professional with many patients commenting on how good the table is, especially the comfort.  They also allow you to change techniques effortlessly during an appointment.  You can be using swedish massage at one height and then lower the table for trigger point therapy.

The most important person in the room is you - you must protect yourself.  Too often we battle along using techniques that are damaging us because we cannot access the patient easily.  A powerlift or electric table allows us to position the patient easier, even sitting up on the table still allows us access just by lowering the table.  It is also much safer and easier for patients to get on the table and then raise them up to the height we need.

Many therapists don't make a living with massage therapy.  I recommend purchasing a portable table first (at a much cheaper price) until you are sure you can make a living and that this is the profession you definitely want to pursue.
