Retreat for your health

Ever stayed in a fully fledged health retreat or resort.  No?  But need a recharge.  Being healthy doesn't have to be enormously expensive.  When I am feeling burnt out (all too frequently) and my health is starting to deteriorate I start to retreat internally and resort to junk food externally.   Time for a break.

There are many types of health retreats and resorts.  They differ from day spas in that you stay there longer than a day.  A retreat is usually more health orientated with vegetarian meals, gentle exercise, meditation and therapists such as massuers and naturopaths.  They aim to get you on the right track and hopefully keep you there.

A resort is a bit more upmarket usually offering a lot more pampering. You want to feel better but be spoilt in the process. Meals to your room, pampering facials, an afternoon massage and swim in the evening.  Maybe even a nice wine.

They're both great ways of recharging but can be expensive for the average income.

I suggest a different approach.  Most of us are suffering from stress such as lack of sleep, poor diet, being overworked and time deficient.  Take away the symptoms of stress.   Pick a location to have a break that it as different as possible to your normal life and routines.  Try not to use your mobile phone, read that book you really want too, sleep in (sleep all day), pretty much do nothing.  Stay at least 3 to 4 nights.  As you start to relax and sleep deeper and longer you will naturally want to eat better (or at least less junk), you will recharge your batteries, and start think clearly.

It allows you time out so you can get back on YOUR track.  When you get back home you will see things in a new light - for the better.  Good Luck!
